Man gets a year's jail for threatening to kill mother

Kota Kinabalu: A 29-year-old unemployed man who threatened to kill his mother for refusing to give him money was sentenced to a year's jail, Friday.Nikizwan Sajani admitted to committing the offence to Nurayda Edeh, 50, at 6pm on March 12 at Kg Likas Lama near here.Inspector Albert Basiri, prosecuting, told the court that prior to the incident, Nikizwan had asked for money from Nurayda but she refused as she knew he would use it to buy liquor and create chaos at home when drunk.ADVERTISEMENT Nikizwan threatened to kill his mother, causing her to lodge a police report. Nikizwan, who was not represented, requested for a lenient sentence saying he was remorseful.Albert applied for an appropriate sentence.The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of two years or fine or both on conviction.In another case, a 38-year-old man was jailed 22 months for having stolen properties.ADVERTISEMENT Sabdalih Nahul, a workshop worker, pleaded guilty to having the stolen television, DVD player, a gold watch, a camera and a piece of old RM1 note belonging to Affredy Sirad Sid at 9.30am on March 12 in a house at Kg Rampayan in Manggatal.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The court heard that the properties were reported stolen from Affredy's house on March 8.
