Arhadin is king of the pool

Labuan: A 14 year-old Labuanite, Arhadin Prome, was awarded the best swimmer for the Under-15 category in the Majlis Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Negeri Sabah's Aquatic Championship held at Sibuga, Sandakan, earlier this month.Arhadin earned the well-deserved title after bagging eight gold medals in all his events at the championship.His individual events include the 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly-stroke, 100m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 200m butterfly-stroke and individual medley. His team events were the 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley.

MSSWPL Aquatic Sports Engineering and Development Chairman Rahman Jaffar described the achievement as an astounding feat for Arhadin at such a tender age. He is confident Arhadin will be able to achieve more success at a higher level including at the national aquatic championship of MSS Malaysia."Arhadin will continue intensive training as I believe he will be able to go far nationally as well as internationally," said Rahman. Arhadin was also Rahman's former student until primary six at SK Pekan Dua here. He is currently continuing his secondary studies at Sabah Sports School in Kota Kinabalu. – Iffah Dilaney
