Oil tanker crash kills man

Beluran: A man was killed and his attendant was seriously injured when the oil tanker they were travelling in crashed at Km 50, Jalan Beluran-Paitan, here, Wednesday. District Polcie Chief Supt Shivanathan Velautham identified the man as Lee Nyuk Fook, 53, addressed at Rumah Pangsa, Kg Sim-Sim, Sandakan. The man's 18-year-old attendant, sustained fractures to his leg in the 7.30am tragedy.

"The duo were heading towards Kota Marudu from Sandakan to send petrol when Lee lost control of the lorry while going downhill . It was believed that the brakes suddenly failed, causing the lorry to speed out of control downhill at Km150 Jalan Beluran/Paitan. This resulted in the lorry crashing into the hillside before keeling over. The impact caused the man to succumb to his injuries at the scene after being trapped in the lorry. His remains were extricated by firefighters, while the attendant was rushed to a clinic.
