RSTC Chairman's Cup this Saturday

Kota Kinabalu: The Royal Sabah Turf Club (RSTC) will be holding its Chairman's Cup race at the Tambalang Race Course, Tuaran, on Feb 17 (Saturday).The main event of the day with three other races lined up, the cup is open to Class I and II ponies with a total of RM33,250 stake money up for grabs and covers a distance of 1900m on the turf track.Fierce competition is expected as nine candidates will be vying for the top prize, with City Spider entering once again and ready for the fray in this year's Chairman's Cup race. City Express is tipped to win the cup while other top contenders include Zack and Horse Queen.ADVERTISEMENT The champion will take home RM20,000 followed by RM7,000 for the first runner-up, RM3,600 for the second runner-up and RM1,650 for the third runner-up.Another highly anticipated event is the Fortune Bowl race among thoroughbred horses for Class A and B, in which fourteen horses have registered for the 1900m race on turf track. Among the favourites to win this race are Slippery Eel, Athena and Pop.A total stake money of RM50,350 will be up for grabs and the winner will receive RM30,000 for the race, which is expected to start at 5pm.As for the Steward's Cup race, it is for Class Seven kampong ponies covering a distance of 1800m on the sand track with a total stake money of RM10,010.ADVERTISEMENT Eleven candidates have registered for the race with Golden Tale as the hot favourite while Jet Moon and Bugaron Moonshine are expected to be among the main contenders.In addition, a trophy race catering to Class 10 ponies is also lined up, covering a distance of 1800m on the sand track with a total stake money of RM7,540. It is scheduled to start at 12.30pm as the opening race meeting of the day.
