Navy men help Telipok school move to new building

Kota Kinabalu: Even though Sabah is safe, the Royal Malaysian Navy's (TLDM) Eastern Armada fleet is not resting on their laurels but instead helping the people who are in need through various initiatives, said its Chief of Staff Captain Jailani Adnan.He said among them were the "Jiwa Murni" programme where fleet personnel assisted students and teachers of SK and SMK Pekan Telipok, here, to move to their new school building.Jailani said the programme which was officiated by Kiulu assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkiau involved over 100 personnel and was part of their efforts to support the government in implementing the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS), which aims to carry out high-impact and low-cost programmes.

"Such initiatives will be continued as the strategy also encourages the public sector to think and act more creatively as well as innovatively," he said during the programme at SMK Pekan Telipok, here, Monday.SMK Pekan Telipok principal Awang Jaya Awang Damit expressed his gratitude to the fleet, especially in their philosophy of helping the community as proven through the programme's theme 'TLDM Bersama Masyarakat'."Through the programme, it has reduced the burden we faced as we had difficulty in moving the school's equipment and other items due to monetary problems," he said.Awang said the old school building had various issues from the aspects of comfort and safety and have wiring problems which made it difficult for the students to study as the classrooms would be hot and humid.
