Assaulting colleague: Head chef slapped with RM2,000 fine

Kota Kinabalu: A head chef of a restaurant was fined RM2,000 or six months' jail for assaulting his colleague.Ng Kong Siong, 46, admitted before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus to slapping one Angeline Johnny, 49, at 2.30pm on Dec 1, last year in front of the office of Fish Market restaurant in Warisan Square here.The court heard that Ng had slapped Angeline on her left cheek once, causing her to fall.

Inspector Albert Basiri said the incident occurred because Ng was upset when Angeline, a manager, blamed the kitchen workers for letting all the food order to be served late to the customers of the restaurant.Ng went out to discuss the matter with Angeline and later slapped her.Ng applied for a lenient sentence as he was remorseful over the incident and has three children.Albert applied for an appropriate sentence.

The charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to a year or fine of up to RM2,000 or both on conviction.In another court, a 30-year-old self-employed man claimed trial to causing hurt to a woman with a glass bottle.

Ahmad Hafeez Alli is accused of committing the offence to one Norreda Dalpa, 23, at 3am on Sept 20 last year at the Club Mix, Jalan Bundusan in Penampang.Prosecuting officer Inspector Rasydan Jasni told the court that the complainant wishes to withdraw the report against Ahmad.Norreda, who was present, confirmed the matter adding that she already lodged a police report to withdraw the previous report she lodged against Ahmad.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
