Great Eastern Takaful appoints new CEO

Kuala Lumpur: Great Eastern Takaful Bhd has appointed Shahrul Azlan Shahriman as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective Monday.In a statement, Great Eastern Takaful said prior to joining the company, Shahrul Azlan was the Chief Distribution Officer in Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd, with local and international experience in multichannel distribution, including banking and insurance/takaful.

Great Eastern Takaful Chairman, Datuk Kamaruddin Taib said Shahrul Azlan was the best person to steer the growth of the company given his vast experience, established track record in the business and strong leadership.

"I would like to welcome Shahrul Azlan to the team. With the relatively low penetration rate of takaful in Malaysia, there is tremendous potential for Great Eastern Takaful to serve the underinsured and fast-growing Islamic insurance market in the country.

"With our established distribution channels, anchored by our professional agency force and our bancatakaful collaboration with our bank partners, we are well positioned to continue to deliver innovative financial and protection solutions and trusted services to the community," he added. – Bernama
