Kota Kinabalu: Sabah DAP Wanita Chief Jannie Lasimbang is a potential candidate for the Kapayan state seat. The former Suhakam Commissioner and former Bersih Sabah 2.0 Chairperson joined DAP in January last year. Speaking in her capacity as DAP Kapayan Coordinator, Lasimbang said she was working towards ensuring victory for the party.ADVERTISEMENT "The chances in Kapayan are good as the majority of the people want to realise a change of government in Sabah and Putrajaya because the constituency has been neglected. "Issues of flooding in several areas, poor infrastructure and corruption cannot be resolved by an individual, no matter how rich he or she may be. Positive changes require change of laws, policies and programmes with dedicated funds," she said.According to Lasimbang, the 25 villages need to be demarcated and revived. She stressed that good, clean urban planning that does not kill these villages is urgently needed."It is the inherent duty of the Government to develop Kapayan, irrespective of whether it is an Opposition area because the people have a fundamental right to development," she asserted.ADVERTISEMENT Lasimbang is unfazed by the imminent transfer of 3,500 voters from Kapayan to Luyang, likely to be approved by Parliament in its next sitting in March this year."DAP secured 61pc of the votes in the 13th General Election in 2013. I need to ensure that we get to keep the support of the others. I am blessed to have a good multi-racial team who has been on the ground for one year," she said.
