Kota Kinabalu: A new category will be introduced for young players in the 16th SGCC Junior Open Championship, to be held at the Sabah Golf and Count Club (SGCC), here, from Feb 10-11.SGCC captain Ng Loong Fah said the new category will be the fourth age group – Group D, and it is open for players aged nine and below.The three other categories are Group A (16-18), Group B (13-15), and Group C (10-12).

Ng also said, the tournament is expected to attract about 80 participation albeit it is not held during school holidays.

"Last year, Maxwin Chiew who represented Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club emerged as overall champion in the boys' category, while South Korean-born Sally Song Eun A who represented SGCC came out on top in the girls' category," he said.
