Kuala Lumpur: The children of government pensioners now have the opportunity to buy affordable houses under the 1Malaysia Civil Servant Housing Scheme (PPA1M), Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said.He said this followed the Government's decision to allow the children of government pensioners to buy houses ranging from RM150,000 to RM300,000 for landed or strata unit.

"I would like to announce that the Government has agreed to allow children of government pensioners to buy PPA1M houses.

"It is possible that all pensioners already have their own houses, but their children can also purchase PPA1M houses even though they are not working with the government," he said in his speech at the 2018 'Khidmat Bakti' Programme, here, Wednesday night.

Ali, however, did not elaborate on the details.

At the event, he also announced that the medical facilities enjoyed by parents of civil servants would continue even after they (public servants) retired.

Meanwhile, Ali called on all government pensioners to continue helping the Government by properly disseminating government information and policies to avoid inaccurate information being viralised among the people, which could undermine economic stability and national development.

He also advised government pensioners to share views on the Government through proper platforms to maintain the credibility and image of the civil service.

He said government pensioners who were the founders and backbones of introduced policies should actively contribute to the idea of realising Malaysia's desire to be among the top 20 countries in economic development and championing the well-being of the people by 2050.
