CIMB: Investigation on lost backup data still ongoing

Kuala Lumpur: CIMB Group Holdings Bhd said the investigation on the lost of magnetic tapes containing back-up customer data is still ongoing. "It is premature at this stage for the bank to make further statements on the matter. "We are, however, confident that heightened security measures and strengthened internal processes will maintain the safety of our customers' transactions," it said, in a statement, in response to Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohamad Fuzi Harun who commented, on Thursday, that the loss was due to negligence on the part of the bank's staff.
