Malaysia sure of a final slot

Kuala Lumpur: Two Malaysian players will face off in the men's singles semi-finals Friday to assure the country of a final slot in the 2017 Malaysian Open Squash Championships at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil.In the quarter-finals, national junior champion, Ivan Yuen subdued compatriot Sanjay Singh Chal in straight sets, 12-10, 11-5, 11-3 at Nicol David Arena. Tournament fourth seed Ivan will be meeting another national player Ng Eain Yow in the semi-finals Friday.

Ng defeated sixth seed Mazen Gamal of Egypt 13-11, 3-11, 11-6,11-1.Ivan believed it would be a tough match against Ng as both were out to snag the berth to the final. "He is a superb national player. On his chances now that the top two seeded players had been eliminated, Ivan said the battle would still be the same.
