Civil servant denies misappropriating RM11,000

Ipoh: A civil servant pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here Wednesday to three charges of dishonestly misappropriating RM11,108 belonging to the state Public Works Department (PWD),  by approving payment vouchers, two years ago.Noor Faezah Mohd, 34, who was the assistant accountant with the Perak PWD at the time of the incident, made the plea after the charge was read out before Judge S.Indra Nehru.

She is alleged to have fraudulently misused petty cash from the state's 2015 budget by approving payment vouchers to a company by the name of Sricomp Solutions without the knowledge of her department head, Perak PWD senior assistant director (Mechanical Branch) Ahmad Fikri Mohamed Omar in June 2015.

In the first charge, she is alleged to have approved a payment voucher for RM3,240 into the company's account on June 26, 2015, followed by a second charge for RM3,868 into the same account on June 30, 2015, and a third charge for RM4,000 on July 8, 2015.

The accused, who is currently working as assistant accountant at the Taiping Hospital, was charged with committing the three offences at Perak PWD's Mechanical Branch, Lorong Lahad, here.

Noor Faezah was charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of up to five years and is liable to a fine, upon conviction.

 Deputy public prosecutor from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Nurul Wahida Jalaluddin appeared for the prosecution while the accused was not represented. The court allowed her a bail of RM20,000 with one surety for all charges and fixed Oct 23 for re-mention.

Meanwhile, in KUBANG PASU, the Jitra Magistrate's Court here granted a two-day remand order on DBI Properties managing director Datuk Noruliman A. Rahman to facilitate investigations into a property scam here involving RM30,000.

Also remanded were two men and a woman aged between 30 and 45, who are directors of Syarikat Juta Kelulut Global Resources. – Bernama
