PBS slams opposition copycats
Kota Kinabalu: PBS Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili (pic) slammed the opposition for claiming that Parti Bersatu Sabah did nothing to champion Sabah's rights. He said the issue of illegal immigrants and regaining Sabah's rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 have been the party's agenda since inception but new opposition parties are using them for their interests, especially before the general election.

Speaking at PBS Inanam's 32nd annual meeting at the Mini Dewan Kg Dato, Tobobon Bukit, Manggatal, Sunday, he said PBS uses the right system and channel to address any problems, especially in relation to the RCI and MA63 to the Federal Government as opposed to the opposition who only know how to talk.

He added that the Prime Minister's visit to Sabah on Saturday gave him the opportunity to meet and speak to the Prime Minister with regards to MA63 and requests from Sabah and Sarawak.

The Prime Minister was open to discuss what was presented compared to the era of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad who looked at the issue as something sensitive and anyone raising it arrested under the Internal Security Act.

Maximus, who is also Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister, is confident Barisan Nasional will still win in the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak in the coming 14th general election.

Commenting on political developments in Inanam, Maximus said, PBS can win back Inanam if all parties unite and prioritise the party's interest.

Maximus, who is also Kota Marudu MP, said the attitude of sulking and sabotaging the party when not chosen as a candidate was the main cause that could make the party's chosen candidates to lose.

Earlier PBS Inanam Division Chief Fredolin Totin Bangon emphasised the importance of PBS leaders and members working as a team to recapture Inanam seat from Pakatan Harapan in the coming general election.

He said the question of who the candidates in Inanam should be left to the party leadership to decide, but it is important for everyone to assist and support whoever the candidate is to ensure Inanam seat returns to PBS and Barisan Nasional.

Fredolin who is Community Development Leader in Inanam also explained that although Inanam is under the administration of the opposition party, the government never neglected its obligation to help the people in Inanam to ensure that the area is not left behind in the division of rural infrastructure development projects.

Meanwhile, the event saw 157 new membership forms submitted by representatives from each PBS branch to Ongkili. During the event, Fredolin also announced the approval for Kg Muhibbah and Kg Lobou gazetted as villages.

Also present were PBS Vice President Datuk Ser Radin Maleh, PBS Secretary-General Datuk Johnny Mositun, PBS Work Secretary Mercilus Roman, PBS Deputy Youth Chief Christopher Mandut and Exco Pergerakan Wanita PBS Pusat, Datin Malinah Ugau among others.
