Umno Pensiangan launches Adopt-a-School Programme

NABAWAN: Umno Pensiangan launched it first Adopt-a-School Programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pohon Batu, Nabawan, Saturday.Umno Pensiangan Chief Datuk Abdul Ghani Yassin said the programme is aimed to provide a platform for partnership between the school, parents, local community leaders and government agencies to support students and the school.Abdul Ghani, who launched the programme at the school, stressed on the importance and benefits of the project to the school and community. ADVERTISEMENT "Students and the school will not only receive annual funding but also gain knowledge and experience through activities between the school and its partners.According to Abdul Ghani, Umno Pensiangan's Adopt-a-School Programme also aimed to help students in the rural areas to improve their academic performance as well as to encourage rural villagers to give priority to their children's education. "Children are our future leaders and we need to nurture them from a young age," he said, adding that Umno Pensiangan is proud to be associated with SK Pohon Batu.He said under the programme, Umno Pensiangan will have volunteers, made from its various wings, who will work closely with the school's administrators regularly to ensure the success of the programme. At the event on Saturday, Umno Pensiangan and SLDB Plantation Development Sdn Bhd jointly sponsored RM5,000, school bags and school supplies for SK Pohon Batu.

SK Pohon Batu is located some 100km from Nabawan town and currently has 60 students.
