Published on: Friday, July 14, 2017

THE Yayasan Sabah Group will be launching a Tabung Pendidikan Negeri Sabah (TPNS) or State Scholarship Fund that will serve as a pool of funds from philanthropists and corporate bodies.

"It is hoped that through donations from these parties, we will be able to provide more financial assistance to less fortunate students in order for them to further their studies to a higher level," said Yayasan Sabah Director Datuk Sapawi Bin Ahmad.

He said 488 students have benefitted ever since the Yayasan Sabah Group was given the privilege to organise the Sabah State Scholarship Award of Excellence in 1990.

"Out of this, as many as 345 recipients have graduated and are now working at various sectors.

"Yayasan Sabah Group will continue providing educational facilities and opportunities to the youth of Sabah as it is our hope to see them through to success in their academic pursuit," he said.

Sapawi said the Yayasan Sabah Group also opens opportunities for the youth of Sabah to further their studies in their homeland.

"Through Sabah Foundation Technical College (KTYS) and University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF), Yayasan Sabah Group provides a myriad of field of interests for students to pursue their studies," he said.

He said besides education, the Yayasan Sabah Group is moving forward and continues to complement the Federal and State governments' efforts in developing the State especially in intellect and mind development programmes as well as socioeconomic programmes.
