Jainab regrets delay in kindergarten premises
Kota Kinabalu: The new premises of a kindergarten for children with disability in Sembulan, which was supposed to be completed a year ago, will now only be completed by November.Expressing her regret over the matter, Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad said the delay will reflect badly on the government.

"I am sad as we are supposed to be concerned about people with disability and I also have to report to the Chief Minister as we were advised by him to monitor the contractor consistently," she said after visiting the kindergarten for children with disability in Sembulan under the 'Masih Ada Yang Sayang' programme, on Wednesday.

She said, the blame would still be put on the government when other quarters are slow in fulfilling their responsibility, even though the Ministry had carried out its duties.

"We were informed by the contractor that the new building will only be completed in November and the present building will be demolished so that a quarters for the kindergarten staff could be built to replace it."

Once completed, the number of residents and personnel in the kindergarten will increase.

On the programme, she said it has been conducted for the sixth year and they have been consistently providing contributions to the kindergarten during festivities as the kindergarten is an 'adopted' kindergarten by Sabah Umno Wanita.

"Among the contributions given to the kindergarten are disposable diapers, milk, rice and stoves," she said.

Jainab also hoped that all Umno Wanita divisional chiefs will chair any charity body.

"What I need from them is commitment, time and passion as such bodies should only be handled by those who have real interests on them."

Also present was Senator Datuk Armani Mahiruddin who led the delegation of Sabah Umno Wanita.
