KYC proves a happy hunting ground for Wan

Kota Kinabalu: Wan Mohd Fazeli Wan Zin ruled in the International 470 Open (series race) at the Harvest Festival and Sabah Fest Open Day Regatta which ended at the Kinabalu Yacht Club (KYC) on Sunday.It was his second consecutive victory in the same venue following his win in the City Day Regatta in February, but this time with a different crew Irwan Satia over the same opponents, veteran sailor Leonard Chin and crew Sofia Lena William to take the overall title.

His teammates from Navy Yacht Club Kota Kinabalu, Mohd Zaidey Bahadub and crew Azmi Shuad were in third place.

Wan Mohd Fazeli and Zaidey with their respective crews also finished first and second in the 470 class category with another NYCKK members Aaron Flavian Ak Clarence and crew Long Wan Ying in third.

Leonard and Sofia were top in the veteran category with Michael R Hastie/Sheirhan Raiman (day one) and Dayang Noor Ammie (day two) in second place.

Sabah revenue hits RM6.97 billion: Hajiji says GRS State Government may see full term

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government continued its momentum in managing the economy in line with the commitment and spirit of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) when it posted record high state revenue of RM6.973 billion last year.

The two winners in the International 420 class were Nicole Chan Mei Yin/Dg Nur Erhaziqah Hanini Erwan and Samuel Wong/Syahin Wazien.

Muhd Afiq Irsyad Adam was the winner in the Laser 4.7 overall followed by Nur Aisah Rose Ramlee and Eric Owen Tan Chang Fook while the top three winners in the Laser Standard were Mohd Mostaman Ismail, Alan Anderson Wan Anak Mandu and Ganesha Grant.

Optimist overall title went to Mohd Shahieran Raiman. Muhd Aiman Adam Mohd Firdaus came in second with Wong Xiang in third.

Shahieran and Aiman also came first and second in division A with Ahmad Faris Fazuri in third.

Wong Xiang was the division B winner followed by Muhd Asnawi Iqbal Adam and Muhd Amirul Aqmal Aslan while the top three in division C were Laurenz Leonardo Daim, Muhd Aiman Najmi Mohd Firdaus and Shahrul Shaf Wan Gani.

In the novice category, Mohd Syahieradham Raiman came top with Shairul Yuzie Rafieq Razali and Heu Xin Yee finished in second and third place.

Associate, Professor , Dr Jason Teo Tze Wi was the winner in the Race Boat Open Overall followed by Nurul Afiqah Insyirah Adam and Amabel Seow Min Hui.

Top three in the Starboard Phantom overall went to Abidin Aliakbar, Wilson Goh and Timothy Chung Pui Tung while the top three in Techno overall were Darren Chin, Mohd Azmi Mohd Kahmis and Muhd Aiman Syafiq Mohd Firdaus.

In the marathon overall results, Dinghy open was won by Afwan Amir Harun. Second place went to Nor Naeilah Nor Hassan and Ambigavalli Grant in third.

Mohd Shahieran Raiman was top in the Optimist race followed by Wong Xiang and Muhd Aiman Adam Mohd Firdaus while the top three in the Novice race went to Mohd Syaheiradham Raiman, Heu Xin Yee and Shairul Yuzie Rafieq Razali. Present at the closing ceremony were KYC commodore Albert Shim and Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Kamarlin Ombi who also gave away the main winning prizes. – GL Oh
