Sabah U-19s held to 2-2 draw by Perak

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Under-19 squad let two points slip after they only managed a 2-2 draw with Perak at the Penampang Stadium on Monday morning.The match which was a continuation from Sunday's abandoned game due to bad weather saw the local boys starting on the wrong note as in the previous day.On Sunday, they relied on Arius Dius Jais' goal to cancel out Ryan Ong Venking's opener and the following day saw them going behind again in the 48th minute when Mohd Aizay Safuan Razali struck to regain the lead for Perak.

Despite the early setback, the boys now under the charge of Awang Sabtu and assisted by Billyton Vun Ket Min seemed to play with more confidence and control.They swiftly took command of the match and despite the strong resistance from the visitors, they found the equaliser through Leonardo Lisua in the 61st minute after he beat a player at the far post before ripping in a low shot that went past the Perak keeper.Sabah had many opportunities to seal all three points but were unable to find the back of the net despite numerous shots on target.They had at least four clear chances after Leonardo's goal but they were either saved by the keeper or the goal bound shots were cleared off the line by Perak players.
