Published on: Friday, April 21, 2017

Tawau: Seven police cadets sustained slight injuries and 21 escaped unscathed when the police truck they were travelling in overturned at Bukit Ular along Jalan Sapi Nangoh, here, Wednesday.

The students were heading towards Kudat from Tawau when the 5.20pm mishap took place.

District Police Chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the seven sustained minor injuries.

All 28 cadets were sent to the hospital in Kota Marudu.

He said the truck they were travelling in was part of a six-vehicle convoy involving 74 cadets and six teachers from a secondary school in Tawau heading to Kudat to participate in a Police Cadets Camp.

Eight policemen were also among those in the convoy.

He said the mishap took place as the convoy arrived at a hilly bend.

Earlier this month, seven people were injured, including five girls and a policeman, when the police truck they were travelling in was rear-ended by another police truck near Ranau.

The incident occurred during a convoy of five three-tonne police trucks carrying police cadets travelling from Kota Marudu to a Police Cadets Camp in Lohan, Ranau. - Lagatah Toyos
