M'sian archers shoot down three silver medals

Kuala Lumpur: The national archery squad shot down three silver medals at the Archery Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage 2 at the Huamark Archery Field in Bangkok Friday.Two-time Olympian Khairul Anuar Mohamad contributed Malaysia's first silver medal after losing 2-6 to Deng Yu-Cheng of Taiwan in the final of the men's individual recurve event, according to World Archery website www.worldarchery.org.Two Malaysian archers; Haziq Kamaruddin and Muhammad Akmal Nor Hasrin lost in the preliminary round in the same event to their respective opponents.

Mohd Juwaidi Mazuki, the 2015 Singapore SEA Games double gold medallist, secured the second silver medal for Malaysia after going down by just a shot, 146-147 to Iranian archer, Esmaeil Ebadi in the final of the men's individual compound event.Another Malaysian archer, M. Khambeswaran lost 9-10 in a tie break to Alexander Dambaev of Russia in the bronze medal match after both archers were tied 143 points in regulation play.Mohd Juwaidi who teamed up with Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh, delivered Malaysia's third silver medal after losing 150-152 to the Taiwanese pair of Wu Ting-Ting/Chen Hsiang-Hsuan in the final of the mixed team compound event.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Iranian pair of Parisa Baratchi/Esmaeil Ebadi won the bronze medal after dislodging Russian pair, Albina Loginova/Alexander Dambaev 151-145.
