Death of follower: 'Pewaris' founder charged

KAJANG: The founder of an organisation known as Pertubuhan Warisan Ketuanan Malaysia (Pewaris Malaysia) was charged in the Sessions Court here Thursday in connection with the death of a man who was found with a gunshot wound on his forehead in a house in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn last March 10.Datuk Seri Jaafar Shaari, 54, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing the death of a follower, Sahdan Ishak, 39.The charge, under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment of up to 30 years and is liable to fine, if found guilty. He also faced two other charges for unlawful possession of firearms, namely a Revolver, serial number 72664, and a live S&B7.56 Br ammunition.

Jaafar pleaded not guilty to both charges.All the offences were allegedly committed at a house at Jalan Suakasih 2/2, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Batu 9 Cheras, between 2.30am and 10.40am last March 10.For possession of the Revolver, Jaafar was charged under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, which provides an imprisonment for up to 14 years and whipping of not less than six times, if found guilty.The charge for possession of the live bullet was made under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960 which provided an imprisonment for up to seven years and fine of not more than RM10,000, or both, if found guilty.
