Jailed for having stolen speakers

Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old man was sentenced to two years' jail for having two stolen speakers.Rahman Juan pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to having the stolen items at 6pm on March 15 this year at a house in Kg Wak-Wak, Jalan Sepanggar, in Manggatal.The offence under Section 411 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to five years or fine, or both, on conviction.

Abbie ordered Rahman to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest.Inspector Suzie Kupit appeared for the prosecution while Rahman was not represented.Meanwhile, in another court, a Filipino was sent to prison for 24 months for stealing a handphone belonging to a woman.Mahadi Jupin, 30, admitted to stealing the handphone at 10.30am on March 7 this year at the TL88 shop in Inanam town, here.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus ordered Mahadi to serve the jail sentence concurrently with the sentence imposed by the Sessions Court for entering the State illegally.The court heard that Mahadi confessed that he stole the handphone because he needed money.
