Punching sibling over a handphone: Man guilty

Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old man pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court here Thursday to punching his brother over a handphone.Jeremenda Kinding was accused of causing hurt to one Gaya Kinding, 39, at 3.30pm on Jan 22 in a house at Kg Pondo, Pulau Gaya.Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus was earlier informed by the prosecution that Jeremenda was fit to enter a plea according to a psychiatric report from Hospital Mesra, Bukit Padang.ADVERTISEMENT However, the court deferred sentencing to April 18 while waiting for Gaya's medical report.Inspector James Paran, prosecuting, in presenting the facts, said prior to the incident, Gaya was playing games on a handphone when Jeremenda suddenly kicked the front door and tried to grab the gadget from him but failed.Gaya shoved him against the wall but Jeremenda retaliated by punching him on the forehead before a family member calmed them down.Gaya received four stiches for an injury to his forehead.ADVERTISEMENT Jeremenda faces a jail term of up to one year or fine, or both, if convicted under Section 323 of the Penal Code. Meanwhile, 57-year-old man from Sarawak was jailed 17 months for having a stolen car.

Low Hui Chuong admitted having one Jahimin Asik's Suzuki car at 6.50pm on Jan 7 this year near Restaurant Tung Yung in Lawas, Sarawak.The offence under Section 411 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to five years or fine, or both, on conviction.In another similar case, Bidin Aja, 31, claimed trial to having a stolen computer set.Bidin is accused of having the properties belonging to one Bayabou Pornah at 7.15pm on March 15 in a house at Kg Gentisan, in Manggatal.The court set April 24 for mention and released Bidin on a bail of RM5,000 in two sureties.In the same court, six men were penalised for having syabu.Sapie Rasad, Alexander Laipot and Alidan Aja admitted to having the drugs weighing 5.05gm, 0.13gm and 0.06gm each on Jan 3, Jan 6 and Jan 7 at separate locations here.Amir Abdul, Sylvester George and Arizan Din confessed to having 0.37gm syabu on Jan 3 in Api-Api Centre.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
