Kota Kinabalu: The Government is urged to find a solution to the flooding at the Jalan Lintas flyover.Parti Warisan Sabah Vice President Junz Wong said he received numerous complaints from commuters who were stuck in long traffic jam on Friday night after a heavy downpour because the flyover was flooded (pic).

"How can a flyover be flooded? It is unthinkable considering it is high ground. But it happened and as several videos showed water was rushing down the road like a river. There was a big puddle on top of the flyover.

"Obviously something had gone wrong, maybe during design and planning or during construction, we don't know.

But it has to be rectified soon," he said, Saturday.

Junz said a survey conducted on the flyover showed there was no drainage which explained why excess water could not be contained and properly disposed of.

He urged the relevant authorities, including Public Works Department as well as the project consultant, to review the design of the flyover and make the necessary amendments.

"Don't wait until after an accident happened before taking action.

Not only the additional drainage, I also thought the workmanship needs to be improved," he said. - Tracy Patrick
