Having stolen car: S'wakian's trial March 23

Kota Kinabalu: A 57-year-old man from Sarawak charged with having a stolen car will go on trial on March 23-24.Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus on Thursday fixed the date for Low Hui Chuong, who maintained his innocence to the charge.

Low is accused of having one Jahimin Asik's Suzuki Jimmy car at 6.50pm on Jan 7 this year near Restaurant Tung Yung in Lawas, Sarawak.

The offence under Section 411 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to five years or a fine, or both, on conviction.

Low was ordered remanded further as he failed to furnish the bail offered to him.

He was not represented.

In the same court, four men were charged with drug-related offences.

Mohd Ridzuan Kottoh and Tan Kok Kong were accused of having syabu weighing 0.20gm and 0.3gm, respectively, in Sembulan and Penampang on Jan 20 and Feb 19.

Benhal Ottoh is accused of taking drugs on Feb 21.

However, no plea was taken from the three while waiting for the chemist's reports.

The court set mention on March 9 and March 27.

Meanwhile, the other man, Mohamad Yusuf, claimed trial to taking drugs in the city on Jan 22.

His case would be re-mentioned on March 27.
