Kota Kinabalu: Two Sandakan policemen – a Sub-Inspector and a Sergeant – have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly committing graft involving RM5,000 on Tuesday.

MACC Sabah Director Dato' Shaharom Nizam bin Abdul Manap who confirmed the arrests said both suspects, aged 50, were nabbed during a trapped operation at Kg Bahagia, Batu Sapi at 5.04pm.

This followed a complaint by a 34-year-old labourer about the alleged corruption act where the latter met both suspects in Sandakan at 11am on Jan 9.

Shaharom said the second suspect asked for RM5,000 from the complainant in return for solving a fighting case of the complainant on Dec. 18, last year.

He said both suspects have been sent to a lock-up at Sandakan police to facilitate investigation into the case that is being probed under Section 17(a) MACC Act 2009.
