Kota Kinabalu: Action is being taken by the Welfare Department to deal with the RM4,000 income pre-requisite set for a disabled person to buy a house. The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry has set the monthly income bracket for a registered disabled person to enjoy a 20 per cent discount on the purchase of houses from the National Housing Corporation Bhd. The minimum requirement set was viewed as beyond the means of the working disabled community. ADVERTISEMENT Welfare Department Senior Assistant Director Zulkhairi Zainol Abidin agreed that the requirement was 'beyond' the means of many disabled people. "This issue had been brought up numerous times during our engagement involving non-governmental organisations and SPNB. "But rest assure, we have given our proposal to SPNB and it is now under the process of action," he said. Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Zulkhairi said this in response to a question posed by one of the participants at the OKU Action Plan 2016 Road Show here. ADVERTISEMENT The man earlier pointed out the requirement was too high as many disabled persons in Sabah do not earn as much.
