Man denies stealing m-bikes

Kota Kinabalu: A local man was charged in the Magistrate's Court on Thursday with two counts of stealing motorcycles.Hoyoki Chang Shau Lin pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to both charges against him.On the first count, Chang is accused of stealing a motorcycle at 2.30pm on Nov 24 this year in front of a supermarket in Putatan.ADVERTISEMENT On the second count, he allegedly stole another motorcycle at 12.30am on Nov 20 this year at the Penampang area.The offence under Section 379A of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between a year and seven years, and liability of a fine, on conviction.The court set Jan 9 and 17 next year for mention and Chang was released on a bail of RM5,000 in two local sureties.In another case, a man claimed trial to having a stolen motorcycle.ADVERTISEMENT Azeroy Yong is accused of keeping the stolen machine at the Penampang area on Nov 25 this year.His case would be mentioned on Jan 19 next year and the court offered Yong bail at RM2,000 in two local sureties.

After serving their jail sentence, the court ordered the foreigners referred to the Immigration Department.Assistant Superintendent of Police Sabrina Jinius appeared for the prosecution.
