Single mum of five marries boy, 18

Kota Kinabalu: Social media is abuzz over the marriage of a 42-year-old mother of five to an 18-year-old from Kuala Penyu. Mohd Sufie Alin wedded single mother, Dayang Sopiah Gusti, on Tuesday at the Beaufort district mosque. The event was attended by the families of both sides.

A picture in Facebook of Mohd Sufie putting a gold ring on Dayang Sopiah's finger during the solemnisation ceremony received mixed reactions from netizens. The groom is not bothered about what others have to say about marrying someone twice his age, as long as his family accepted it."They are mature enough to make their own decisions, including getting married," his father Alin @ Matalin Utam, 52, said."What is important is that Sufie did not disturb someone else's wife and they wish to continue their relationship the Islamic way. "Therefore, I have no problem and consider Sopiah to be the soulmate of Sufie, which has been decided by God," he said.
