China dolls turn unruly in raid

GEORGE TOWN: Three Immigration enforcement officers suffered cuts from glass shards when two women, believed to be drunk, smashed several bottles on the table during a raid at an entertainment outlet in Gurney Drive.Shouting in Mandarin, the women from China went berserk when the enforcement officers tried to handcuff them for failing to show their travel documents.State Immigration Department operations chief Fairuz Ismail said the team raided the entertainment outlet to check on alleged vice activities.

"Several women tried to provoke us by smashing beer bottles on their table, and threatened our officers. "Three officers sustained minor injuries, but we managed to control the situation."We believed that the women were drunk and lost control of their senses," he told a press conference after the 12.15am raid.Fairuz said six women from China and five Vietnamese women, aged between 18 and 35, were arrested.

"We will be investigating the case also under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 to see if the women had been exploited," he said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

In Butterworth, 23 foreign women – two Thais, seven Chinese and 14 Vietnamese – were arrested at an entertainment outlet in Bandar Perai Jaya for similar offences.
