Sabah target 3 golds in S'pore

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Masters Athletics Association are targeting at least three gold medals in the 19th Asia Masters Athletics Championship in Singapore.It's President Aliudin Jumaat said Juliana Gumpil who grabbed a 100m sprint gold two years ago in Japan will lead the team's challenge.

"Juliana who is the 100m record holder in the 50-54 category is our brightest hope for another gold and we are hoping for a repeat performance from her in the sprint as well as in the long jump events, and she will be competing in the 55-59 category ."

Apart from Juliana, he said Tay Yu Eng, Chin Yee Jen, Tarmizi Sandhu and the women 4 x 400m relay team also stand a good chance to produce gold medals for the team.

The Sabah contingent consisted 38 athletes, including 16 women, are among the 115 numbers representing the country.
