Kota Kinabalu: Persatuan Taska Sabah, Keningau zone, a non-governmental organisation, made Sabah proud for its second achievement after becoming the champion for overall competition on a national-level held in Pahang recently. They competed with other pre-school operators associations from other states in Malaysia.

Leading the group of 17 pre-school teachers and operators, Rojaliah Hanti, an operator herself from Keningau, bagged a trophy and other goodies. There were indoor and outdoor games and most of the games were won by the Sabah delegates.

"I am overwhelmed with this second in a row achievement by Sabah. I am so proud of all the members.

Despite only having 17 participants, they were able to take part in most of the games.

"It is their spirit and determination that kept them going and hence, became the overall champion," said Datin Nelly Munang, the former President of Taska association in Sabah.

Meanwhile, the current President, Irene Ambrose, affirmed that they would continue to improve professionalism in caring the child development through education and training.

"Education of a child in the early years is crucial. They start to use the five senses as young as few months old to 4 years old. That range of age is the best time for the child to absorb his or her surroundings.

"The child may not be able to talk but she/he can hear, see, feel, smell and touch things and the learning process is actually taking place from there," said Irene who operates Taska Kristal Ria Yayasan Sabah in Sadong Jaya.

She added that they strictly comply with the requirement in operating a pre-school for quality services.

"Our emphasis is on the child's early education, where we do lots of interaction to as young as a two months old baby.

This is already part of the education they gain.

"I encourage parents who have babies to take the chance to interact with their little ones so that the babies will grow healthy in terms of thinking," said Nelly who operates a pre-school in Penampang called Sunduvan Care Kids.

According to Irene, Melaka will host the yearly meeting with all Taska associations in Malaysia next year.

"We are looking forward to participate in this event in Melaka next year and will try to retain the title again as the overall champion," she said.
