SHAH ALAM: Paya Jaras Assemblyman Mohd Khairuddin Othman of PAS again apologised and insisted that it was never his intention to mock Islam by donning attire resembling that of Cao Guo Jiu, a Chinese deity in the Taoist pantheon, during a Chinese New Year celebration in Sungai Buloh on Sunday. Mohd Khairuddin stressed that he attended the event in his capacity as an assemblyman and did not intend to participate in any religious activity. "It was a Chinese community programme, a programme to distribute aid and oranges during the Chinese New Year ... everyone does it. The only difference is that I wore the clothes of an emperor (which allegedly resembles the one worn by Cao Guo Jiu). (Caring for) the community is also part of our job. In fact, the (PAS Supporters) Club is also a part of us, but if I erred in my views, I apologise," he said.
