Gas cylinders seized, 3 held

Tawau: Two Malaysians and an Indonesian were nabbed and their speedboats seized after they were caught with 37 gas cylinders without proper documents at the Sungai Haji Kuning waters during "Ops Paradise" at 11.45pm on Monday.Sabah Marine Police Commander ACP Mohammad Madun said both men, 26 and 34, failed to produce trading licences and documents from the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism. The case will be investigated under Section 7(4) of the Control of Supply Act 1961 for carrying controlled items without permit.In an unrelated case, six Indonesians, aged between 21 and 27, were detained after they tried to sneak into Sabah via Tawau Port without valid travel documents at 2.45pm on Monday.

Mohammad said all six travelled from Sungai Nyamuk, Manggarai and Sulawesi and were escorted to Tawau Marine Police jetty for further action. Meanwhile, District Police Chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the two security guards, 34 and 49, detained on Monday in connection with the missing safe box containing RM13,000 at Tawau Water Department, will be released immediately."Our investigation led to other suspects. The officer in charge of the CCTV also had nothing to do with the case," he said, adding that police are still hunting for the suspects and the missing safe box.

On Monday, police nabbed the duo in connection with the case which reportedly happened between 11.09am on Sunday and 7.05am on Monday.Initial investigation found that the culprits forced open the window's grill to enter the premises and broke into the payment counter's room before fleeing with the loot.
