Take stern action on culprits: NGO
Tawau: The reported involvement of community leaders in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) in abusing their position by issuing support documents to unqualified MyKad applicants is disappointing. Persatuan Anak Tempatan Tanjung Batu Tawau President Juaini Buyong said if, indeed, the allegations revealed by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) Central Operations Staff Chief Brigadier-General Dato Md Rahim Mohamad were true, serious action should be taken.

He said those involved must be investigated and face the music.

Meanwhile, he also said security enforcement officers and personnel should not to issue statements such as "forced to leave wife and children" when carrying out their duties.

"As someone who serves the country, their focus should be on the country and carrying out the responsibility as best they could.

"Perhaps they come from the peninsula but are still in Malaysia and not outside the country," said Juaini who is also a Committee Member of the Tawau Branch National Ex-servicemen Association.

He said what was important is for the frontliners to carry out the duties full heartedly for the country and to ensure peace and sovereignty of the country continues to be maintained.

He said the sacrifices of the security team would always be appreciated.

"The people have full trust on the security enforcement team who serve to ensure the country's independence continues to be enjoyed by generations to come," he said.
