Malindo Air launches inaugural flight to Amritsar

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian hybrid airline Malindo Air Sunday launched its first flight to Amritsar, India. The Kuala Lumpur-Amritsar flight OD271 operates on a thrice weekly on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the airline said in a statement. The inaugural flight from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) to Amritsar's Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, Punjab marks Malindo Air's seventh destination in India.

"Being the only carrier to connect Southeast Asia with Amritsar, we hope that through this new route, the tourism sector in both Malaysia and India will prosper with more tourist arrivals," Malindo Air Chief Executive Officer Chandran Rama Muthy said. India has always been an important market for Malaysia, being one of its top 10 tourist generating markets. – Bernama
