Kota Kinabalu: The people tend to link the various misfortunes in the country now to the failure of the Malaysian Government to fulfil the three guarantees stated on the Batu Sumpah (Oath Stone), claimed DAP Sabah Native Consultative Council Chairman Dr Edwin Bosi.Bosi said the traditional people have high reverence for natural spirit and the Batu Sumpah came with traditional rituals to bind the promises, which are the three guarantees of the Malaysian Government to the indigenous people.

"When the guarantees are engraved on the stone which is then consecrated with blood from sacrificial animals, any party that fails to honour the promises or guarantees, bad omen will befall them," Bosi said in a statement, here, Thursday.

Bosi said freedom of religion in Sabah is no more as non-Muslims are subjected to many rulings, NCR lands are taken away and the traditional lifestyle is curbed by changes in land use or subject to new regulations.

The Oath Stone, he said, is a unique heritage and symbol of Malaysia and without it, the conception of Malaysia would have been difficult.

"DAP is vigorously working to erect as many Oath Stone replicas possible in all native villages in Sabah," Bosi said, while congratulating the launching of the seventh Oath Stone replica in Kg Sawang, Melalap, recently.
