Tenom Native Court launches quake fund

Tenom: An Earthquake Fund set up by the District Native Court was launched on Thursday by Tenom Member of Parliament Datuk Raime Unggi.The programme which was held at the District Office was attended by District Officer Madiyem Layappan, District Chief OKK David Jani, community leaders including Chinese community leaders.

According to Raime, it reflected the people's concern for those affected by the recent earthquake.

"Besides that, we also had flood incidents and we understand how the people would have felt … it was considered lucky that we received assistance from outside communities …and we appreciate all those assistance from all parties.

"Therefore, we too must assist those in other districts especially when they now facing problems resulting from the earthquake," he said.

Earlier, the aerobics club from the Kesatuan Perpaduan Sihat had also organised similar activities and received good feedback from the public.

Another charity concert will be held on June 28 featuring Murut artists at the Sedcovest open stage from 10.30am.

The event is expected to be launched by Rural Development Minister cum Melalap Assemblyman Datuk Radin Malleh.
