Sabah MCA contributes RM50,000 to quake victims

Kota Kinabalu: Contributions for the Mount Kinabalu earthquake victims continued to pour in, with the latest being MCA divisions from Sabah which donated a total of RM50,000.The contribution was handed over to Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun during a courtesy call led by MCA Penampang Deputy Chief, Datuk Francis Goh, at his office on Monday.

During the courtesy call, Goh said he hoped other political parties or NGOs would also come forward to help the victims and the unsung heroes, especially the families of mountain guides who perished during the incident.

"We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to those affected by the earthquake. This is a difficult moment for their family members and they may need future support for their children's education," he said.

Masidi, who is also Karanaan Assemblyman, thanked Sabah MCA for the contribution and he too hoped more political parties, NGOs or individuals would come forward to help those affected by the earthquake.

Contributions can be made to the Tabung Bencana Gempa Bumi Gunung Kinabalu (Account No: 101050010000790 Lembaga Pemegang Amanah Taman-Taman Sabah, Alliance Bank (M) Bhd Kundasang Branch).

Also in attendance were Permanent Secretary Ginun Yangus, Sabah Tourism Board General Manager Datuk Irene Charuruks, MCA Penampang Chief Datuk Paul Kong Sing Chu, MCA Kota Kinabalu Chief Datuk Agnes Shim, MCA Sipitang Chief Su See Teng, MCA Silam division chief, Datuk Teah Heok Kuin, MCA Putatan chief as well as other party division leaders and representatives from Sabah Parks.
